Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards
Central Florida is home to so many attractions. Whether you are a thrill seeker, animal lover, professional shopper or nature explorer, we have it all. But, sometimes I get tired of hearing about Disney, Universal Studios, or Seaworld. It’s why I created this series – completely dedicated to exploring and highlighting other areas of Central Florida.
In this installment of my A Tank Away Series, I will be visiting Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards. This is one my favorite wineries to visit in Central Florida! With their tours, tastings, live entertainment and yummy food, a weekend here is a lot of fun!
I have yet to try a wine I don’t like, but the Froze is my favorite!
What is Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards?
The winery first opened its doors in 1989 in Clermont, Florida and sits on a 127-acres estate. What might shock you the most about your visit are the rolling hills you will see in this part of the Central Florida. Compared to the flat, urban city of Orlando, the countryside was a pleasant surprise on my first trip to Lakeridge Winery.
When you arrive at the winery, you will be directed to the tasting first and then you can make your way upstairs for the tour. Start by sampling their Cabernet Sauvignon and then work your way to the sweeter options – Chardonnay, Chablis, Sunblush, Southern Red, and Proprietor’s Reserve. As you move from station to station, you’ll get to see the large tanks that house the wine and how the bottling process works. When you’re ready, head through the gift shop and make your way upstairs.
Upstairs, step into the theater room and watch the 10 minute video, which helps to understand the entire wine making process and also explains the history of wine making in Florida. From there, move to the large upper patio. You’ll get a birds-eye view of the vineyards as well as the winemaking area. The tour will end just as it began, by having another tasting. Pink Crescendo (a sparkling wine) and Ruby Port were on the menu for the final samplings!
You’ve reached the end of the tour and tasting. Now, you can browse the gift shop, head outside to see some live entertainment, eat some great food or continue indulging inside. The choice is yours!
Fun fact: Most of the wines made here are made with Muscadine grapes, also known as the “Super Fruit of the South.” They have antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties!
