Southern Hill Farms
Central Florida is home to so many attractions. Whether you are a thrill seeker, animal lover, professional shopper or nature explorer, we have it all. But, sometimes I get tired of hearing about Disney, Universal Studios, or Seaworld. It’s why I created this series – completely dedicated to exploring and highlighting other areas of Central Florida.
In this installment of my A Tank Away Series, I will be visiting Southern Hill Farms. This is a perfect place if you’re looking to have a “fall” experience in Florida. Their Fall Festival is a one of a kind experience and quite honestly, a lot of fun! But, we’ll get to that in a minute.
What is Southern Hill Farms?
The short answer is that they are a local farmer. With over one hundred and twenty acres, they grow pumpkins, sunflowers, strawberries, blueberries, vegetables, peaches, and zinnias. Add in two festivals each year where you can pick your own produce or flowers, and it makes this farm extra special. During the Fall, you can pick sunflowers, zinnias and during the Spring, blueberries and peaches. Strawberries are available in the winter months.
The long answer to my original question though, is that they are an experience maker. Take their fall festival, for example. It runs from the end of September through mid-November. Not only do that have a pumpkin patch for you to pick your very own pumpkin or take pictures in, they have a corn maze, sunflower and zinnias picking, food trucks, wagon rides and carnival rides! You can easily spend hours wandering around and its perfect for families or couples.
I highly recommend purchasing tickets to any of their festivals ahead of time. Since they are a popular local farm, tickets are most likely going to be sold out if you wait until the day of to purchase. It is especially important to purchase tickets ahead of time if you would like visit on a busy weekend (for example, Halloween weekend).
